Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2025
Your privacy is as sacred to us as the untouched wilderness.
Foster the Forest ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the personal information of our guests, clients, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or book an expedition with us.
We operate in compliance with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws of Ontario and British Columbia.
1. Information We Collect
To curate a safe and bespoke experience, we collect specific types of data. We maintain a principle of "data minimization"—we only ask for what is strictly necessary.
- Identity & Contact Data Names, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses required for booking contracts and communication.
- Sensitive Health & Dietary Data Crucial for your safety. We collect information regarding allergies, dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, etc.), and mobility limitations to ensure safe catering and transport logistics in remote areas.
- Age Verification As many of our events involve alcohol service and are strictly 19+, we may request government-issued ID to verify age compliance with AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) regulations.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data exclusively to facilitate the "Foster the Forest" experience:
- To process transactions and secure your reservation.
- To communicate logistics (coordinates, transport details, weather updates).
- To ensure physical safety during the event (e.g., notifying medical staff of allergies).
- To comply with legal obligations (tax reporting, liquor licensing).
3. Disclosure to Third Parties
We do not sell your data. However, to execute complex events, we must share limited data with trusted partners under strict confidentiality agreements:
For allergies & preferences
For pick-up logistics
In case of emergency only
If required by law
4. Photography & Media
Our events are often documented by professional photographers. By attending a "Foster the Forest" event, you acknowledge that you may be photographed or filmed. These images may be used for our portfolio or marketing.
Opt-Out: We respect your privacy. If you wish to remain anonymous or "off-record," please inform our Concierge prior to the event, and we will ensure you are not featured in any published media.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Typically, financial transaction data is kept for 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
6. Security Measures
We employ industry-standard security measures, including SSL encryption for data transmission and restricted access protocols for our internal database. While no digital transmission is 100% secure, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data.
